Certificate in Studio Photography

12 sessions x 3 hours (Revamped)

This course equips learners with the skills to effectively handle and apply artificial lighting to achieve specific aesthetics in portrait photography. Learners will learn how to apply both high key and low key lighting techniques. Additionally, learners will learn to utilize artificial lighting to recreate distinct visual styles for product photography using digital cameras. Practical sessions will cover the application of two-point and three-point lighting setups. Learners will also be trained in using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom software to enhance and refine their photographic work.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:
  • Apply fundamental lighting principles to control light quality, direction, and intensity to achieve desired photographic effects.
  • Utilize various lighting styles and techniques to produce high-key and low-key portraits that convey mood, emotion, and character.
  • Apply effective lighting and composition techniques to photograph products with different surface textures, ensuring accurate representation and visual appeal.
Note:
  • A digital certificate and transcript will be issued upon successful course completion, which requires a minimum attendance rate of 75% and passing the necessary assessment.
  • Please note that no replacement classes are offered for missed lessons.

Our Trainers

 

Arron Teo

Arron Teo is a dedicated educator with more than 15 years of teaching experience in art and photography. He is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, imparting his 2D Visual Art & Photography knowledge to tertiary and certificate students. He was invited to conduct an art & photography workshop for MOE teachers at Singapore Teachers’ Academy for the aRts since 2014. Arron’s photographs have been awarded, exhibited and published locally & internationally. His works have been featured in various photobooks & magazines. The Singapore Art Gallery Guide featured his photo-documentary works from 2010 until their final printed copy in late 2016. Arron enjoys photographing people and behind-the-scene events. He was also commissioned by celebrities, government and corporate organisations for portraiture and photo-documentary assignments locally and overseas.



Eric Loh

Eric is a photographer and educator based in Singapore. As a photographer, his works include interior, architecture, food, and corporate portraits. His accolades include the Black & White Spider Awards and International Color Awards. With 15 years of experience in darkroom photography, Eric is passionate about reviving this analogue medium to a wider audience as a relief to screen fatigue in the digital age.
