Certificate in Furniture Making

12 sessions x 3 hours (Revamped)

Learners will design and build an ergonomically crafted entryway console table. They will be introduced to essential safety practices for working with advanced tools and machinery. Along the way, they will familiarize themselves with woodworking equipment, including power tools, and explore various methods used in furniture construction. Learners will acquire skills in cutting, shaping, veneering, and mastering diverse techniques for finishing and sanding to complete the project to a professional standard.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:
  • Understand various construction techniques used in furniture making.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the operation and safe use of woodworking machines.
  • Identify and apply different types of wood finishing techniques.
  • Design, construct, and complete a fully functional piece of furniture to a professional standard

  • A digital certificate and transcript will be issued upon successful course completion, which requires a minimum attendance rate of 75% and passing the necessary assessment.
  • Please note that no replacement classes are offered for missed lessons.

Our Trainers

 

Clifford Patrick Tailford

Clifford Patrick Tailford has vast experience and knowledge in the areas of furniture making and woodworking in a workshop environment. He is a master in the trade of furniture making, and his passion and love for wood are a testimony of his long association with anything made with wood. He has been in education for 40 years with various educational institutions in Singapore and has been with NAFA for the past 20 years. He is currently teaching in the Certificate course in Furniture Making at the Centre for Lifelong Education. Professionally, he was the Chief for Staging at the then Singapore Broadcasting Corporation and oversaw many set-ups for local television productions.
