Certificate in Fashion Design

12 sessions x 3 hours (Revamped)

This course introduces the basics of fashion design. Learners will gain knowledge and inspiration through fashion history, shapes and silhouettes, colour and trend inquiries. It also aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to create professional fashion driven visuals. Through weekly exercises, learners will be able to design digital fabric swatches in various motifs, prints and textures. They will then transfer these swatches onto the outfits relevant to their design theme.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

Gain a comprehensive understanding of fashion design principles, including history, theory, and current trends.
Develop skills in digital illustration, textile design, and pattern making using industry-standard software.
Create a strong design portfolio showcasing your creativity and technical abilities to prepare for a successful career in the fashion industry.

Note:

A digital certificate and transcript will be issued upon successful course completion, which requires a minimum attendance rate of 75% and passing the necessary assessment.
Please note that no replacement classes are offered for missed lessons.

Our Trainers

Hanna Lai

For slightly over a decade, Hanna Lai has toggled her attention between fashion design, graphic design, and arts education. She specialises in design and production for sportswear, menswear and womenswear. Upon completing her Bachelor studies with First Class Honours, she embarked on her career in the fashion industry as a Senior Fashion Designer, Consultant, Arts Educator and Programme Leader for several Fashion programmes.

During her studies, she was selected to showcase her graduate collection at the Graduates Fashion Week in London, alongside the top United Kingdom and international universities.

While attaining her degree, Hanna was also awarded the grand prize in the Nefful Fashion Discovery 2018 competition, Best Graduate Award and the prestigious Peru Embassy Award - which recognises well-rounded academic achievers. Her works have been chosen to be showcased at the India-ASEAN Weaving Textiles Relations and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) Best of Best Show 2018: Creative Differences exhibition.
