Certificate in Chinese Ink Painting (Intermediate)
Building upon the introductory course, learners will be taught new subject matters. They will learn about the cultural context of the common traditional flower and bird themes. At the end of the course, learners will be able to create vivid ink paintings on a greater variety of subject matters and attain higher mastery of ink and brush techniques.
Course Prerequisite
For learners who have successfully completed Certificate in Chinese Ink Painting (Basic).

Module 1 - Flowers
(8 sessions x 3 hours)
This module focuses on painting common flowers such as peony, narcissus, morning glory and lotus. The structure of each flower and its representational form will be discussed. The painting of stones and pebbles will also be taught to enrich the compositional needs of the finished work. Learners will acquire skills for the application of strokes, ink and colours.

- Different techniques to load the ink
- Techniques to create various brush works
- The structure of peony/narcissus/morning glory and lotus
- The composition.
Module 2 - Flowers and Birds
(8 sessions x 3 hours)
In this module, learners will explore painting various birds, such as kingfishers, sparrows, mynahs and chicks. They will learn to integrate birds and flowers into their paintings to strengthen their compositional skills. Through weekly exercises, learners will enhance their competency in ink painting with interesting compositions.
