Certificate in Chinese Ink Painting (Advanced)
In this advanced course for Chinese ink painting, participants will learn how to synthesise Chinese ink painting techniques they acquired in the Basic and Intermediate levels. With an emphasis on painting fruits and birds, learners will also be more exposed to the philosophy and aesthetics of traditional Chinese ink painting and culture.
Course Prerequisite
For learners who have successfully completed Certificate in Chinese Ink Painting (Intermediate).

Module 1 - Flowers and Birds II
(8 sessions x 3 hours)
In this module, learners will be taught the skills of creating a well-balanced painting of birds. Learners will acquire the skills of highlighting the shape and form, mass and texture of birds in their paintings.
Module Content:
• Geometrical shapes, forms and volume; head, feather, claw of owl, eagle pheasant and peacock.
• Compositions such as closure, square, triangle, dense and loose; host and guest, far and near, full and void, figure and ground, direction, confrontation, balance and overlapping.
• Multi-colours within a single stroke, lines and dots, wet-on-dry and dry-on-wet techniques.
Module 2 - Fruits and Vegetables
(8 sessions x 3 hours)
This module equips learners with the skills of creating a well-balanced painting of tropical fruits. Learners will be taught how to enhance geometrical shapes, mass and texture of fruits in their paintings, as well as different Chinese ink painting techniques to improve the composition of their paintings.
Module Content:
• Geometrical shapes, forms and volume; hair, shells and flesh of fruits such as rambutan, durian, pomegranate, watermelons, chestnut and garden pea.
• Compositions such as closure, square, triangle, dense and loose; host and guest, far and near, full and void, figure and ground, direction, confrontation, balance and overlapping.
• Multi-colours within a single stroke, lines and dots, wet-on-dry and dry-on-wet techniques.
