Ceramics (Level 1)
(8 sessions x 3 hours)This course aims to introduce learners to basic skills in ceramics making. Fundamental techniques such as pinching, coiling, slabbing, and glazing will be covered. In addition to acquiring the essential clay-making skills, learners will be able to apply knowledge of essential concepts relating to space, structure, proportions, composition and textures to their artwork. Learners will be designing and producing 3-Dimensional ceramic artworks during the course. This course is recommended for enthusiastic beginners who wish to explore the art of ceramics making.
Please note that wheel-throwing is not introduced in this course.Learning Outcomes:At the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Fundamental techniques such as pinching, coiling, slabbing and glazing will be covered.
- Acquire basic skills in the process of ceramics making e.g. pinching, coiling, soft slab and hard slab.
- This course focuses on hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, slabbing and glazing.
A digital certificate will be issued upon successful course completion, which requires a minimum attendance rate of 75%.
Please note that no replacement classes are offered for missed lessons.

Techniques Taught
This course focuses on hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, slabbing, hollowing and glazing.
Number and size of works produced per learner
Each learner will be allowed to create and produce up to 10 pieces of ceramic works. Each work is limited to 20cm (L) x 20cm (B) x 20 cm (H).
Quality of works
Our technician will take every precaution and care to ensure the best possible outcomes for your ceramic works. However, inadvertent mistakes and misfires happen, and CLE will not be responsible for undesired/inconsistent results or damaged pieces. There will be no course fee refunds or replacement of ceramic works should the final artwork not meet your expectations.
