Basic Silkscreen Printing with Fabric

(2 sessions X 3 hours)

This course is for anyone interested in learning the basics of silkscreen printing, also known as serigraph printing. Learners will be taught step-by-step techniques for creating silkscreen prints, from designing the image and preparing the stencil to making a print on fabric. Learners get to bring home a tote bag with their print at the end of the course.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this module, learners will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of silkscreen printing.
  2. Design their image suitable for printing.
  3. Transfer an image and prepare a silkscreen for printing.
  4. Make a print on fabric.


Our Trainers

 

Joseph Chiang

Joseph Chiang is an artist, printmaker and cartoonist. He is the founder of Monster Gallery, a creative print studio, and the Young Printmakers League, a mentorship programme supported by Noise Singapore. He was commissioned by the National Arts Council to organise the Contemporary Printmaking Festival as part of Singapore Art Week 2017. He has exhibited in Singapore and internationally. He was invited to exhibit his works at the 10th World Triennial of Original Prints and Engravings in Chamalières (France, 2017). His latest work Chronicles of a Circuit Breaker is a graphic novel depicting his life during the Circuit Breaker in Singapore in 2020.
