Art Therapy for Dementia Prevention
(4 session x 2 hours)This experiential course explores how art therapy can support cognitive health and help prevent the onset of dementia. Participants will stimulate memory, enhance focus, and promote emotional well-being through creative expression. Guided artmaking, reflective discussions, and mindfulness practices will provide practical tools to maintain mental agility and foster a sense of connection and self-discovery.
No previous art experience is necessary—only an interest in exploring creativity for cognitive health and emotional support. This course is ideal for caregivers, educators, social workers, mental health professionals, and anyone interested in using art for cognitive well-being and dementia prevention.
Learning Outcomes:At the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Explain the role of art therapy in promoting cognitive health and preventing dementia
- Experience how artistic expression reduces stress, improves mood and fosters social connections for brain health
- Learn and apply practical art-based techniques to support memory, focus, and overall mental well-being
