Art Therapy – Exploring Art Mediums

(4 sessions X 3 hours)

Art therapy encourages the person to express emotion and explore their problems using various art materials, enabling positive change and personal growth. The intention is not a focus on the artistic skills of the client but on the engagement in a personal creative process. This course introduces Art Therapy and a review of the art materials often used in Art Therapy sessions. Learners will get a hands-on approach and art experiential in exploring different art mediums.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this Workshop, learners will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the role of art mediums for art therapy
  2. Describe the purpose of various mediums such as dry, wet, mixed media and clay in a therapeutic setting
  3. Demonstrate the use of mentioned mediums for personal practice

A digital certificate will be issued upon successful course completion, which requires a minimum attendance rate of 75%.

Please note that no replacement classes are offered for missed lessons.

Our Trainers

 

Amanda Chen

Amanda Chen is a certified and experienced Art Therapist (MA-AT 2015 Masters in Art Therapy), Arts Educator (Registered with MOE-AMIS) and Soft Pastel Nagomi Art Instructor. She has been active and current in the social work scene for the past decade. She has worked with many charities and social enterprises like Red Pencil, Student Advisory Centre, Center Pottery, Habitat for Humanity Singapore and was the Former Deputy Director of Social Creatives. She currently sits on the board as Honorary Secretary of the Rare Disorders Society of Singapore.

Amanda is the founder for Art for Good and believes that a lot of good can be done through art, especially in the healing and therapeutic aspects. She fosters kittens and creates children’s illustrations in her free time.
