During the 2023 Tripartite Alliance Award ceremony organised by the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practice, Minister (MOM) and 2M (MTI) Tan See Leng emphasised the necessity for progressive employment policies, especially as the country will become a super-aged society by 2030, with a quarter of its citizens over the age of 65. He said that 70% of employers in Singapore now offer fixed flexible work arrangements, essential for attracting and retaining talent as the nation faces an aging population. Tan highlighted the need for flexibility to manage increasing family care responsibilities due to an aging population and smaller family sizes. Progressive employment policies should also include leveraging technology for career development, redesigning work environments for all ages, and training programmes for older employees to contribute effectively.

A total of 31 organisations and three contact leaders were awarded the Tripartite Alliance Award. This award is to recognise companies that effectively promote fairness and responsibility, and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) is one of the award-winning organisations. NAFA’s management is very considerate of its employees and provides them with many employment benefits, such as flexibility, working time arrangements, telecommuting, and workload distribution management. Among individuals, Tan-Soh Wai Lan, President of NAFA, was recognised with the Work-Life Excellence Award. NAFA has a policy of no internal meetings on Friday afternoons, allowing staff to focus on work or personal development. Mrs Tan also supports flexible work hours and remote working for NAFA staff. In a 958FM interview, Ms Jessica Ong from NAFA’s Corporate Communications Office, also spoke of the supportive workplace measures at NAFA, which have supported her career over the years.
