Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, an esteemed arts institution with a global reputation seeks a Senior/Lecturer at the School of Fine Art.


Roles and Responsibilities

 
  • Oversee course management and delivery of degree modules, with the ability to provide research and analytical skills to degree students by undertaking 18 - 20 contact/teaching hours per week during term time.
  • To deliver Fine Art modules (Bachelor’s Degree), including studio and research knowledge, as well as professional and industry practices.
  • To provide additional support to Fine Art modules (Diploma), including art history and theory, when required.
  • Contribute towards curriculum development, regular programme and module reviews, and the design and development of learning materials.
  • Supervise and assess students’ works/projects and assist in planning and organising various activities, such as artist talks, seminars, conferences, exhibitions and events.
  • Monitor and guide student’s learning progress, performance and advisory on their creative portfolio.
  • Provide pastoral care, support and empathy for learners’ well-being.
  • Establish and maintain links with the industry and institutions to foster a total approach of academic pursuit alongside industry and research practices.
  • Perform administrative duties related to teaching and Faculty/School or institutional strategic initiatives.


Requirements

 
You should minimally possess a qualification of Masters in Fine Art or related discipline, preferably with a PhD, with a minimum 5 years of teaching and relevant working experience in the contemporary art industry.

You should be inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary in both attitude and approach and hold a strong interest in Southeast Asia, and possess research and/or creative portfolio in the Southeast Asia context.

Evidence of research, knowledge exchange and/or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of Fine Art will be relevant to the goals of the Faculty/School and Academy.

You should be effective in pedagogical methodologies to teach these modules with an established track record; an inquiring, innovative and reflexive approach to teaching, as well as consider equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching and assessment.

A positive, enthusiastic, inspiring and hold up standards with the ability to engage students in their learning. Shows commitment to understanding the range of students’ experiences within the Fine Art course.

You will be required to possess a strong command of written and spoken English, good command of a second language, as well as a strong team player who can collaborate, work effectively and respectfully across different professional groups. Application Closing Date:
