Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, an esteemed arts institution with a global reputation seeks a passionate Senior/Lecturer at the School of Design & Media (SDM).

Ultimately, students will master all the communication and technical skills needed to excel in any sector or design field upon graduation, creating content that is powerfully effective in the present and beyond.


Roles and Responsibilities

 

The incumbent would be to teach and supervise film, television, digital production and immersive media producing and other related topics, taking full responsibility for the design, management, assessment and delivery of teaching in the following components: Transmedia, Immersive Media Design and Virtual & Augmented Solutions.

The role involves providing academic leadership and support in the management and delivery of assigned modules for the School of Design & Media, which include:

  • Undertaking 20-24 contact/teaching hours per week in the field of design and media, including facilitating collaborative and interdisciplinary practice;
  • Designing, preparing, and developing module/teaching materials;
  • Contributing towards the review of curriculum and academic activities;
  • Maintaining records relating to students’ progress, performance, and attendance and
  • Supervising and assessing students’ assignments/works/projects.

You will be required to perform administrative duties as expected of an academic staff:

  • Mentor and provide pastoral care and support to students, identify high-risk cases to and highlight these cases to the Associate Dean and/or counsellor
  • Provide career guidance and Industry-Based Learning (IBL) supervision
  • Assist in the planning and organisation of a variety of activities, such as industry collaboration, exhibitions, talks, Open House or any internal/external events
  • Establish and maintain links with the industry and institutions to foster a holistic approach of intellectual discourse alongside industry practice

In addition, you will be required to to keep to date on the development of disciple-related teaching practices and learning strategies, contribute to collaboration and research, preferably in the area of interdisciplinarity, as well as engage and teach in other courses within the School of Design & Media or across the Academy as appropriate, if required.

 


Requirements

 

You should possess minimally a master’s degree in design and media or a related field, with a minimum 8 years’ of extensive academic and/or industry experience and are proficient in applications, objectives, and platforms of relevant area.

A strong track record of research/practice, with actual or potential for research output in your chosen field and able to perform in a fast-paced environment, to adapt, multi-task and meet deadlines. You should be an excellent problem-solver with strong analytical skills.

A positive, enthusiastic, and results-oriented with the ability to engage students in their learning, as well as a team player with excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and writing skills.
