Description



We would like to invite applications from seasoned theatre practitioners and educators for the position of Adjunct Lecturer.

You have a robust track record in theatre practice/research, fortified by substantial experience in the theatre industry. Holding a postgraduate qualification or nearing its completion is essential. Your capacity to thrive in a multicultural, interdisciplinary environment, and remain abreast with the evolving theoretical and practical landscapes of theatre, will be key to guiding our students in navigating the challenging terrains of the theatre and performance industry in Asia and across the globe.


Roles and Responsibilities

 
  • Undertake contact/teaching hours per week in one of the following unit(s)/component(s):
    • Vocal Training (Accent work, Actioning for Actors and Voice for Southeast Asian actors)
  • Design, prepare and develop documents such as lesson plans and assessment descriptors as well as teaching resources/materials
  • Plan and supervise a variety of activities such as students’ progress, projects, productions, performance collaborations, attendance, etc
  • Mentor and provide academic care and support, including career guidance to students
  • Keep up to date on the development of discipline related teaching practices and learning strategies
  • Establish and maintain links with the industry and institutions to foster a total approach of academic pursuit alongside industry practice
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration and research
  • Teach in other courses within the School of Theatre/Faculty of Interdisciplinary Practices or across the Academy as appropriate, if required
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by Supervisor


Requirements

 
  • A Masters's degree in Theatre/Voice Pedagogy or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience in higher education or the theatre industry
  • A strong professional practice track record and demonstrate actual or potential contributions in their chosen field. A research practice track record is preferred
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in pedagogical approach
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and results-oriented with the ability to ignite a passion for learning among students
  • Exceptional command of written and spoken English
  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills, fostering a collaborative work environment
