Bernie Xu

Bernie Xu is Head of the School of Fashion and Design at the Management Development Institute of Singapore. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, First Class Hons, in Fashion Design from Northumbria University, Newcastle. After graduating, his collection was exhibited during the London Fashion Week, and he has now over 20 years of experience in the Fashion industry. Bernie has taught, led and managed a whole range of programmes offered by several top fashion university partners, such as the BA (Hons) Fashion and Textile Design by University of Portsmouth (UK); BA (Hons) Fashion Product and Promotion by University of Sunderland (UK); BA (Hons) Fashion Design / BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing and Branding by Nottingham Trent University (UK).

Bernie spent his illustrious career as a nimble, entrepreneurial, creative leader in Research and Design, Marketing, Merchandising and Sales. He was also involved in licensing brands’ Open-to-buy (OTB), Distribution, Pricing, Inventory, Navigating Trends, while staying relevant with marketing and communication in promoting multiple retail point of sales and e-commerce in the marketplace. Besides overseeing multiple product lines in different regions, Bernie has also led and worked with managers across departments in managing contract negotiations.
