A graduate from the Diploma in Fine Art in 1993, Yeo Chee Kiong is an award-winning professional sculptor known for his thought provoking and unique works that often present playful and unexpected juxtapositions. His sculpture work includes series of artworks with conceptual narratives. Many of these have garnered critical attention as well as won him several awards such as the First Prize for LTA Downtown Line Art Competition 2012 - Expo Station, the regional Grand Prize for Asia-Pacific Breweries Foundation Signature Art Prize (2008), and the Grand Prize of the 2nd CDL Singapore Sculpture Award (2005). Some of his notable works in Singapore include ‘In the Eye of Red Dot’ which was named an SG50 Commemorative Public Sculpture at the National Museum of Singapore in 2015, as well as ‘The Wind & Wings’ which was named the Legacy Sculpture for the Youth Olympic Games at the Youth Olympic Village in 2010. Chee Kiong held his 7th solo exhibition ‘A Beauty Centre’ at NAFA in April 2016. Chee Kiong also held several appointments which include: President of the Sculpture Society, Singapore (2005-2009, 2015-2017); Chairman of Telok Kurau Studios Management Committee (2014-2016); Member of the Public Art Appraisal Committee of the National Heritage Board (2010 to 2013); Panel member of the Young Artist Award Specialist Panel for Visual Art, National Arts Council (2012, 2013); Member of the Curriculum Development Advisory Committee of Department of Fine Art, NAFA (2011 to 2013); and Advisor for Norwegian Collaborative Organisation for Contemporary Art Abroad, London (2011-2015).
