A graduate from the Diploma in Dance in 1996, Ricky has been a professional dancer, choreographer and educator for 20 years. He has worked with local and international dance/theatre companies such as The Arts Fission Company, Singapore Dance Theatre in Singapore, Katsura Kan & Saltibanques from Japan, Theatre Nordhausen in Germany, Bangkok City Ballet in Thailand, Fattore K and Teatro alla Scala in Italy.

Ricky is gaining reputation as a choreographer who is collaborative and provocative. Working closely with musicians, stage actors, and various art practitioners in an integrative manner, his works have been described as ‘being extraordinary, physically daring with a strong sense of vivid musicality’. His works have been presented for professional companies and festivals in Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and USA

The international and local artistic accolades that Ricky received include Artist-in-Residence at Thammasat University in Thailand, the silver award in choreography for National Day Parade in Singapore, International Touring Grant for Indonesia Dance Festival VIII, Rotary-NAC Arts Training Grant, Djerassi Residency Program for Choreography in USA, UNESCO-Aschberg Bursary for Artist Programme in France / Greece, National Arts Council (NAC) International Development and Marketing Grant. In 2001, Ricky was awarded the Shell-NAC Arts Scholarship to study his Master of Fine Arts in Dance from Queensland Univeristy of Technology, Australia.

Ricky is often invited as speaker and guest lecturer of dance and education at international forums and institutions, and is also a panel member in dance for Scholarships & Bursary, Performance and Arts Education of National Arts Council (NAC) and is an Associate Director for Moving Arts in Singapore. He lectures part-time at his alma-mater and is also a member of the Curriculum Development Advisory Committee for the Dance programme in NAFA.

In 2011, Ricky founded RAW Moves, a contemporary dance company based in Singapore. It aims to connect with the audience by presenting collaborative and versatile works that are innovative and embraces multi-disciplinary art forms. RAW Moves' daring and experimental approach is recognised and has been awarded National Arts Council's SEED Grant in March 2013.

Ricky is a representative and standing member of the UNESCO's Conseil International de la Danse (The International Dance Council), Paris. The International Dance Council is the official umbrella organization for all forms of dance in all countries of the world.
