Pianist Tamás Ungár has earned worldwide acclaim for his powerful performances and innovative programming. A regular guest artist at numerous music venues in the United States, he also performs and teaches frequently across the globe. Between 2006 and 2014, he performed in over 70 concerts in countries like America, Brazil, Colombia, England, Korea and Japan. He was appointed as Artistic Director of the Beijing International Piano Festival and continues to be the Artistic Advisor for the Zhou Guangren Summer Piano Institute.
As Founder and Executive Director of the PianoTexas International Festival & Academy, Ungár created a celebration of the piano through programmes for young artists, juniors, teachers and amateurs. In 2010, Ungár received the prestigious Presidential Scholar Program’s Teacher Recognition Award and in 2013, the Music Teachers National Association named him ‘The Teacher of the Year’. The Senate of Texas has proclaimed Ungár as a Distinguished Citizen in recognition of his lifetime work and achievements in the fine arts.
