Gary Laycock graduated from the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University at Bloomington, USA with a PhD in Musicology, and a minor in Music Theory. The title of his dissertation is “Re-evaluating Olivier Messiaen's Musical Language from 1917 to 1935”.
Gary has considerable experience teaching at a wide range of age groups and levels, having taught both in Singapore and the USA at the university level, as well as in the local Singapore education system at the secondary school and junior college levels. He has also worked in the areas of music curriculum and assessment, and is currently a Senior Teacher (Music) in Nanyang Girls’ High School, Singapore.
