COURSE OVERVIEW

This course has been divided into 3 stages – Grade 1 to 5 and the Young Musicians Programme Grade 6 to 8 and Diploma.

Besides practical class, students are required to take theory and/or aural classes. Diploma students are required to take Theory Grade 8 or Music Appreciation Class to enrich their musical knowledge in terms of music history, analysis, harmony, orchestral score reading, to develop musical maturity and professional performing skills.

Students are required to sit for internal examinations conducted half-yearly to monitor the student’s progress. The external ABRSM and Trinity exams are only for Grade 8 and Diploma students.

To build up students’ performing confidence and gain stage experience, all the students are required to perform on stage twice per semester at the internal masterclasses. It is also a good opportunity and platform for students, parents and teachers to share their expectations and opinions, in a combined effort to improve.

Students who successfully finished Grade 5 will be selected into the specially designed Young Musicians Programme to strengthen their performing skills and music maturity. They will have more public performing exposure locally and international through concerts and competitions. This programme provides professional training for the students to pursue music as a career.
